Employers do incredible things, but many young people never get the chance to hear about the exciting career opportunities waiting for them. By volunteering to support local students and schools, you can showcase your business, highlight your industry, and make a lasting impact—informing and inspiring the next generation of talent.
Become a ‘Give an Hour’ Volunteer
As a ‘Give an Hour’ volunteer, you can engage with any Hub school in the region, selecting opportunities that fit your schedule. Volunteers receive a half-termly Volunteer Update—a bulletin featuring career events happening across local schools during the academic year.
Events range from mock interviews and "Guess the Professional" sessions to careers fairs, mock assessment centres, and bespoke projects. The Careers Hub will also keep track of your sector and expertise, connecting you directly with tailored opportunities that align with your role.

Become an ‘Enterprise Adviser’
Enterprise Advisers can come from any industry sector or professional background – whether you are employed, self-employed or retired, your individual experience is what matters.
You will work with one or more specific school or college, supporting their senior leadership team and careers leader to:
- Strategically to develop and evaluate their careers plan
- Provide a valuable employer's perspective on how a school or college can embed labour market information and opportunities into the careers programme.
- Potentially work directly with young people to give them vital information and experience of working with someone from local industry
- Engage with other local businesses and employers in your network to put a wide variety of careers opportunities at the heart of young people's education
