In 2023, the Careers Hub began working with a pilot cohort of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough primary schools as part of the ‘Start Small, Dream Big’ programme.

Studies show that children start to form ideas about their future as they start primary school. However, as early as the age of six, children can adopt limiting stereotypes based on gender, ethnicity and social background. By age nine, children can start to abandon their biggest ambitions.

The pilot ran from September 2023 to March 2024, and saw over 60 primary schools offer teacher CPD developed by Teach First, ‘Employer Encounters’ arranged by Form the Future and signposting to various funded resources from partners including Skills Builder and the National Literacy Trust.

  • Opportunities to hear case studies and best practice from other primary schools

  • Signposting to CPD opportunities and resources from the Careers and Enterprise Company and other partners

  • A half-termly opportunities newsletter for Lead Teachers and schools
