Statutory Guidance from the Department of Education states that: 

• By the age of 16, every pupil should have had at least one experience of a workplace, in addition to any part-time jobs they may have. 

• By the age of 18, or before the end of their study programme, every student should have had at least one further experience of a workplace, in addition to any part-time jobs they may have. 

This is encoded through the Gatsby Benchmarks: experiences of the workplace are essential to acheiving Benchmark 6. 

Form the Future, in conjunction with the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Careers Hub, has created this guide to support schools in learning about experiences of workplaces and helping their students make the most of experiences of work.

The guide is designed to be used by Careers Leads and/or Careers Coordinators to inform their own practice and provide other colleagues with further information about work experience and experiences of work.
