Cambridgeshire and Peterborough have key economic sectors that are reliant upon logistics. The fens are home to some of the best agricultural land in the UK housing a many food processing centres. Both rely upon logistics to move the raw materials and finished products around the region and to the world outside. The same is true of the manufacturing businesses across the region, but especially in Peterborough, with logistics ensuring that products made in the region are able to reach customers.
Public transport is expected to become increasingly important for the region especially in the Cambridge with discussions about with discussions continuing about the introduction of a sustainable travel zone along with the proposed expansion of Cambridge.
