How EU Funding is helping you

If you are a small employer with less than 250 staff you can access the support and guidance through the Growth Works with Skills service fully funded as part of the STAR Hub project, one of the Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority’s 12 successful European Social Fund projects. Although we are no longer part of the European Union, we continue to benefit from project funding secured before our leave date that will continue to benefit our employers over the next 3 -5 years. You can read more about the range of ESF funded projects across our region here.

Facts and Figures

Our Skills Service is receiving approximately £2 million of funding from the European Social Fund as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England. The Department for Work and Pensions is the Managing Authority for the England European Social Fund programme. Established by the European Union, the European Social Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support skills development, employment and job creation, social inclusion and local community regenerations. Access support for your business

Growth Works with Skills is using ESF project funding to deliver a range of support services for SMEs. We want to reach at least 276 local employers and help them identify how to best invest in skills and training and identify at least one member of staff who can benefit from new learning and skills.

Through our Growth Works with Skills services funded through ESF our local SMEs can access:

At the heart of our skills service is identifying the main challenges and opportunities in an organisation and where skills can make the most difference.

Our unique Talent Development Maturity Index and our detailed Growth & Skills diagnostics help employers focus on their ‘hot spots’ and provide organisations of every size with a set of steps to improve their growth and recovery. For employers that want to benefit further, we support this with an in-depth online or face to face Training Needs Analysis, working with employers to understand their specific priorities and challenges and matching these to the range of skills support and training available in our local and regional provider network.

The recommendations that follow each level of diagnostic might result in helping employers access government funded support for skills and training through apprenticeships, traineeships, kickstart or simply to work with our Training Providers in the Cambridge and Peterborough area to design develop or just deliver short courses to meet an immediate gap.

Our range of events provides short practical advice sessions on skills and training for employers, individuals and stakeholders. Each session lasts 90 minutes and will set out what is available, how to access the support and where to go for further help. Every session is recorded for access at any time and available as part of our growing resources library

To support the range of skills and training solutions we are building a library of tools and toolkits, guides and webcasts and checklists to full online skills sessions to help employers and individuals address identified skills and training needs and access services available locally.
