Thank you for your interest in considering an internship. We have provided some useful information below to help you decide whether to apply and have included some additional information about further opportunities and ‘lifestyle’ websites that may be of interest, as you think about your next steps.

What is an Internship?

An internship enables you to try a career before deciding if it’s the right one for you. Internships provide invaluable work experience and you'll gain transferable skills and important industry connections – known as networking. You can apply for an internship if you are not currently undertaking any work or training. Internships are co-ordinated by Growth Works with Skills –
part of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA).

Growth Works with Skills will open new opportunities and support you to improve your prospects by gaining real world experience of work. This should help you to develop your confidence and motivation and increase your transferable skills, to help you obtain employment references and be able to evidence your learning.

Our internships

Our internships last for a fixed period of 13 weeks. You must complete a minimum of 16 hours each week.
They are typically undertaken by individuals looking to gain relevant skills.
Employers use periods of work experience to assess a learner’s capability and often offer a job to their interns, so apply for an internship that you have a real interest in.
Securing an internship isn't always easy and competition for some opportunities can be strong. If you're struggling to find a traditional in-person internship there are other things you can do to build your skills, such as virtual work experience or volunteering.
Remember to consider how you will get to and from your place of work
